As I stopped at subway last night to get the kids a sandwich, I was being ...."reviewed" by another male customer. I finally got up to the counter, and he slid down to the next section (you know where they add the extra toppings.) I ordered the kids a footlong meatball sandwich. As I am waiting for his to be finished (AND trying to avoid the fact that he is blatantly staring at me)...it started...the weak attempt at a conversation.
I must have made him nervous.
Him: that sandwich looks good. i should try that sometime.
Me: (trying to be as polite as possible) yes, it's good (which, my kids love it...me not so much!)
(Pause)
Him: what kind of sandwich is?
Me: meatball (obviously???)
Him: looks good.
(pause) what kind of bread?
Me: wheat
I smiled politely, paid, and told him to have a good night.
AWKWARD!
Him: that sandwich looks good. i should try that sometime.
